What is DECA?
DECA is a student-centered, educational/professional organization with a program of leadership and career and professional development designed specifically for students interested in business education. DECA enhances that education by providing business-related activities based directly on classroom study. As a member of DECA you will compete against students from all across the province and perhaps the continent. DECA teaches not only the skills you need in business but the skills needed to succeed in life.
We are the leading, innovative extra-curricular program for secondary school students in Ontario by creating professional partnerships and experiential learning opportunities that allow students to develop confidence and demonstrate leadership in the business community.
The long-term business objectives of DECA Ontario are to increase awareness of DECA throughout the province to maximize student membership, strengthen corporate sponsorship, and encourage direct support of events in the community through scholarships.
DECA Ontario operates in accordance with the highest standards in all relationships with members, volunteers, sponsors and the community. DECA fosters a climate that encourages innovation and diligence among advisors and volunteers.
More and more schools are recognizing DECA as a great way for students to get prepared for ‘the real world’. Students are mentored by our strongest leaders and guided by our most supportive corporate and community sponsors enabling them with the motivation, skills, and education they need to pursue a line of business.
DECA fearlessly dives into a world beyond textbooks through role-plays, community projects, leadership programs, and international networking.
We will participate in Regional, Provincial and International Tournaments!
The DECA Virtual Business Challenge is an official DECA competitive event where participants use highly visual simulation software (like SimCity) to manage a business. Students download software over the Internet at no charge and compete for the highest score against schools across the United States and Canada. The DECA Virtual Business Challenge (VBC) encourages DECA members to test their skills at managing a business individually or as a team. The VBC culminates in live competitions at the International CDC (Nationals). This year's VBC will have the two traditional tracks, VBC Sports and VBC Retailing. DECA students will also be able to compete in the H&R Block Dollars & Sense National Challenge which is a DECA special event.
